Well, as most of you know, last year I took upon maintaining the website, since Lonnie was going to leave the series. I contracted a host service for that, and since I was going to use for other things as well, I didn't mind paying for it. The problem though, is that my service comes with one MySQL database which is the requirement to run the current WSRC website. I'm starting to need that database for other things though and contracting a secondary database, is not exactly cheap. I currently pay 30 reais, and an extra database is 10 reais. If I had a real job, I wouldn't mind paying it, but as it is, I receive very little. So here are the current options: - We could rework the website in HTML, so that it doesn't need to use the database anymore. I would not mind creating a layout, if someone is willing to switch the content over to the new site. I have a ton of disk space on my server, so it wouldn't be a problem. - Someone could take upon hosting the site. I'm sure I can arrange to transfer the database somehow. - Another option is to contract a new database if someone is willing to pay for it...but that might be a bit complicated, with most of you being from another country. If no one is willing to take up on the task, I'll just create the new layout and start to switch the content over myself...it might take a little while though. Anyway, let me know

Viper: If you want to keep the things in HTML/ASP format, and dont want the site to use the database anymore... I have other idea - We could just stick the pages to the HTML/ASP format, and use an old system known as NewsPro (I still have it packed anywhere in my computer) to post the news. It doesnt use the MySQL, just stores the data in a text file. It's very easy to install and use, so Dave shouldnt have problems if he wants to be our "The RedBulletin"

My server doesn't run ASP as it's a PHP server. But I have the same software for PHP, so it's not a problem. It would be helpfull if someone could just get the current content and rewrite it under the new layout, once it's done. No HTML skills required...just need to be able to use a little of FrontPage.

All right, if u have the same software for PHP, go for it, and about rewriting the site content, It shouldnt be a problem, I dont see where copy and paste shouldnt be a problem =) Dave? OFC I can post something on the site as well

Ok then. As soon as I get college tests out of the way, I'll start doing the new layout. I'll try to stick to something like the current one

Is anyone going to bother with this at all? If not, I'll just remove the current website, save the data, and do my stuff. I won't make a new site unless there's confirmation of the series going forward in some way. If anyone is interested in making the layout though, go ahead. I don't mind hosting it, as long as it doesn't need MySQL to run...

I was trying to contact you... what I can say is, everyone moved to rfactor, and since the league lost the interest in GP4, we could move to rfactor BUT we would only race six drivers (1 of us as a server) what is ridiculous. We would need a dedicated server tho, what is impossible given the situation we are now. What we needed is, a website running about the series, get some drivers in and put some advertsing banners in our website to fund a server. and then arranging a server IS THE COMPLICATED PART OF THAT IDEA. So thats why I think that wsrc is gonna die.

Ok, here's what's going to happen then: I just checked and I have the data for the whole season here on my HD, and the forum holds all results too. I'm going to take the website down, as I need to install another software on the website for myself.
I am thinking that perhaps creating a legacy website of the series wouldn't be a bad idea. Even if it doesn't move forward...so I'll do that too, although not right away.
So where does this leave the series? For now, nowhere. As you said it yourself Bruno, moving to rFactor creates a series of issues that won't be easily solved. We'd need someone to really focus on that in order to make it work, and frankly I don't have the energy to do something I won't be participating in. If anyone comes to me, and says: "Here mate, I'm going to look into it, and talk to some current websites, and see if we can get a server. I'm also looking into possible new drivers, etc...". Heck, if someone tries to do something, I'll go ahead and put up a website for this year. No problem.
Finally though, I've been thinking...WSRC Masters anyone? Why don't we, veteran drivers of the series, get together a few times during the year, to make some races...in GP4? Full length races, simple 1-lap qualifying format, AI drivers turned on, the one that finishes in less time wins. No teams. How's that sound?
Anyway, I'll be always here waiting for you ideas and developments. If anyone wants to talk to me, my MSN is diogovn@hotmail.com and my icq is 66024715.

I am a bit upset atm about how it ended anyway. I am having trouble finding a F1 CTDP rFactor league that allows fantasy teams, so I could put RaltWest into there. I found one, but its in a very early stage atm and no signs of that it will start.
I havent played GP4 since the last race in 2006, but if I dont find any place where I can race with my beloved fantasy team, then I want to find people interested in a third (and possibly last) WSRC season again. But it should be more flexible as I am currently with a Test Driver role in a F1CS rFactor league (the same where Dave is racing)

Hey count me in for that...been really depressed the past few days that we won't have a league running this year...was kind of looking forward to it.
Today I did a race in gp4 just so I won't lose the grips, and man, best race I ever done. I didn't win in the end cause of sheer stupidity of the AI, but it was great anyways. Started last in Suzuka, and made my way through. The start was pretty rough, did a lot of mistakes, but near the end, with 11 laps to go, Kimi was 15 seconds ahead...I actually manage to close in on him, and on the last lap I passed him...but then he bumped into my back and made me spin, heh. Still, I was doing constant 1:30.1 there in the end...it was a bit unreal, heh.
