Well since the V10's were pushing 1000bhp at the end of last year (Honda had 990 or so iirc) you better believe it Diogo mate, I already explained that it wouldn't cause the same problem. The V8's would because less power = more grip = stupidly easy drive and crazy laptimes. With a V12 and the current physics set (just an increase in longitundinal grip and BHP) the cars would be a lot more fun to drive, and the laptimes would only increase a small amount imo Now I'm undecided between V10's and V8's How about the 1988 V6 engines? No idea, probably 600 maybe? I'm talking real power, the turbocharger doesn't exist in modern F1, so a real comparison would probably be somewhere in the region of a modern high performance road car. Like a Mercedes SLR or Aston Martin DBS for example

*Ahem* Why revert back the series to technology used 18 years ago? Can't we look forward a bit?
Tom: If V12s aren't that big of a deal, I guess it would be ok then. Still, we have to stick either to the V10s or go V12. I'm not keen on going V8 or even V6 for that matter.

Going backwards sucks imo. Anyway, if V12's don't work out, we go back to this right? I can probably pull up some realistic torque data for a race spec V12 tuned to modern standards somewhere in the region of 700Nm of torque I should think, more than a V8 supercar, and they don't hang about

Well, after reading every single information here, right now I think that we should stick to V10's or move to V8's... I dont know about the V12's, I need to know what's the great difference between V10's and V12's in terms of driveability

Put it this way, currently you have enough power to pull you off the line and give you reasonable acceleration @ medium revs. With a V12, you would have enormous power off the line / out of a corner, meaning fun driving, with the power band extending right through to the high revs. Figure an increase of 250Nm or torque or so, and 900bhp, just like now, but more power

Ill just pretend i know what you're talking about

250Nm is more than your average road car. Torque being the amount of pull an engine has.
Basically, you'll go very fast, even quicker than now, of course, cornering speeds would be lower cos of the huge amounts of power involved, and the mass would have to be increased as an afterthought with two extra valves in the engine

I guess we can try a V12 physics with Slicks. If it doesn't work out very well, we can stick to V10s with Slicks.

Ok then, I'll get playing with Torque editor and give you all a buzz once the new physics and .exe are ready to go

So I enabled the thing using the old CSM 1.25 with the new carset... everything worked well, so I thought that it was OK. Just a tip to keep an eye here when you start working in that V12 thing

New CSM requires an original exe only for now. It'll allow different exes once the bugs are ironed out. It was just a requirement Zaz imposed for the beta and not an issue.
