And i wasted a lot of time trying to improve my qualifying lap, so i was exausted when i did my race. Yup, had the same problem. Although my laps were not 4 tenths apart I'm sure I could've gotten all of them about 3 tenths faster or even more if I hadn't exausted myself with the qualifying lap before...as I said, I'm looking forward to Imola now...

Hi GUys! Well, I've only received emails from the following drivers so far. Bruno Castelló, Diogo Vincenzi, Flavio Santos, Kyle Schroeder and Matt Finlay. And since reading this thread, I see why! Sorry to those who are having trouble with the game and or computers and to those who are pulling out. All is understandable! Late submitions are still open for another 3 and half hours if anyone changes their minds! I've sent Finlay, the files as he is the race admin for Austria. Finlay, Vincenzi and I swap race admin duties from race to race. I'll be admin of the San Marino GP coming up in a few weeks. Eventaully we will have a race admin email account that we will have everyone submit their laps to. For now, just send them to me. Good luck everyone!

I was kinda too much confident in a better performance like i did @ Malaysia, this might be the reason why i didnt performed well... I was so confident that i havent practised any laps until sunday... but i've learned that i need to do my "homework" in order to be prepared for the "final exams", so i will be looking forward to the next race with some days to practise and finally join the front runners pack

Here's a little tip. When practising, do your laps etc, but save your practice session into a savegame so that you can go from where you left. Doing that I was able to improve my qualifying lap from 1:06.040 to 1:05.735 or something to that effect. Having your best time always on makes you improve your times substantially as you can see what you are doing wrong in each sector. Also watching your replay in the t-cam view helps you to identify the wrong spots in your lap.

Was hoping we could at least get qualifying times? But it's not a big deal either

2006 WSRC Austrian Grand Prix
Diogo Vincenzi opens his 2006 account in spectacular style today as he drove to a dramatic victory in the Austrian Grand Prix. Starting from pole position, the Brazilian drove a near perfect race to take victory from HSV’s Matt Finlay and Bruno Castello’s Raltwest.
At the lights however, it was Finlay who made the better getaway from 2nd on the grid and took the lead into the first corner. Vincenzi fought back though and on lap two, approaching the Remus hairpin, the Audi driver was able to retake the lead in a perfectly controlled passing manoeuvre. Vincenzi then continued to pull away from Finlay’s Holden by roughly a second per lap until lap six when he was the first of the runners to make his compulsory pitstop, handing the lead back to Finlay.
Leading the race, Finlay pushed like crazy before his own stop, attempting to reduce the gap before his own stop. It was close, but as the HSV exited the pits, the Audi of Vincenzi swept past once again and back into the lead to the delight of the predominantly German crowd. Vincenzi was then never headed, and on lap 10 set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:06.093. By lap 11, the Audi driver had an nine second lead as he took his first win of the 2006 season, his championship campaign back on track.
In third place was the Raltwest of bruno castello who endured a battle for position with Audi's Matthew Green. Green was the first man to pit at the end of the first lap and rejoined in 6th position. Presumably the reasoning behind this strategic move was so he wouldn't get caught in traffic. Green was able to keep pace with Castello but when the Raltwest pitted on lap eight, he rejoined ahead of the charging Green. Surely Green was now cursing the grid penalty that was applied to him for a rule infringement**. Castello took a fighting third and secured his first podium finish of the year.
Fifth place went to Rhino Racing’s Kyle Schroeder, who finished 12 seconds back from Castello. An early pitstop on lap 5 meant that Schroeder was never really in contention for the podium. There’s clearly a lot of work yet to do for the new team yet. Flavio Santos in the second of the Raltwest Honda’s finished sixth, the final placing of the race with an unusually high attrition rate as Tom Matthews, Reece Byrne, Michael Adeneken and Tom Pell all withdrew from the race due to technical difficulties.
With ten points to Matthew’s none, the championship is an invigorating prospect as Vincenzi looks to reassert himself in the fight for first. Seven points covers the top three drivers, be sure to join us in Imola for round four of the WSRC.

** you all should be aware that qualifying means that for every place you're away from pole position, you lose 0.1 seconds per lap. Check the depreciation chart on these forums in the regulations section. Green, due to not qualifying was placed 6th on the grid and subsequently suffered a 0.6s a lap penalty as opposed to castello, who started 3rd and was penalised by 0.3s per lap. As it was, Green finished ahead of Castello on gross timings, but when the penalties were applied he loses that position.
press conference to follow...
