Post Race Press Conference
1st – Tom Matthews 2nd – Bruno Castello 3rd – Diogo Vincenzi
Q: Welcome gentleman to the 2006 Canadian GP Press Conference. Tom, you had a commanding win here today. How does it feel to be on the highest step of the podium again? Tom Matthews:
Q: You had a bit of pressure at the start from Bruno Castello. How did you manage the pressure until his first pitstop? TM:
Q: Bruno, another excellent result for you and the team. Do you think the tests helped the team get this result? Bruno Castello:
Q: Despite the pressure, that maiden win didn’t arrive yet. What do you think must be done to get that extra edge to win? BC:
Q: Diogo, a good result and a nice battle with Dave. Still, the team dropped back a bit for this race? Diogo Vincenzi: Yeah, it was a good battle. He took the best line there at the start and was able to pass. Fortunately I was able to pass him again later, and then after the pitstops it got easier. But to be honest, with the car we had, I think it was the best we could do. The car has been perfect on all races so far, but we were struggling a lot with balance here, and we couldn't find the right compromise between Downforce and Top Speed for this track. So third is the best we could do in the end.
Q: Audi chose not to test here prior to the race. Do you think that was an issue? DV: Not really. Perhaps test would’ve helped, but we had a different programme to follow from the other teams and it had to be done back in Germany. We saw some big improvements to the car that'll be beneficial for the following races, so I think we are on the right track. And also, this third place wasn't a big setback, as we still have a good lead on Matthews.
Q: Bruno, the next race will be Indianapolis. Do you think the team is prepared for a win there? BC:
Q: Diogo, the same? DV: We did not race here last year, so hard to say. But still, apart from Montreal, the car has been perfect for all circuits, so I think we have a good chance.
Q: Tom, congratulations again. Do you think you'll be able to keep up the good form from now on? TM:
Thank you gentleman, and till next race.

Post Race Press Conference Q: Welcome gentleman to the 2006 Canadian GP Press Conference. Tom, you had a commanding win here today. How does it feel to be on the highest step of the podium again? Tom Matthews:Feels great, despite the disadvantage in engine power, the car performed nothing short of brilliantly. The aero down the back straight just kept the thing glued down to the road, and in that last chicane, there was a lot of grip, and it looked like that was where some guys out there were having problems. Overall, it was an awesome result for KDR Post Race Press Conference Q: You had a bit of pressure at the start from Bruno Castello. How did you manage the pressure until his first pitstop? TM:I wasn't thinking about Bruno following me, I was more concerned with being as consistent as possible and trying to belt out as many fast laps to get away from the pack before the first stop. Actually, there was a problem in the stop, the rear left stuck on the car, and it took an extra two seconds in the pits to get it fixed and have the new tire on. Still, it's a good win, 6 seconds isn't to be sniffed at, especially considering just how close Bruno was in qualifying compared to the current WDC and the rest of the field Post Race Press Conference Q: Tom, congratulations again. Do you think you'll be able to keep up the good form from now on? TM:Well for sure it won't be easy, we're approaching possibly the weakest part of the season for me and the car, particularly at somewhere like Silverstone and even possibly Indy. Still, I'll keep trying for consistent podiums at least, I doubt though that any of us will be catching up with Diogo soon unless he falls ill and can't compete for the rest of the season.

Post Race Press Conference Q: Bruno, another excellent result for you and the team. Do you think the tests helped the team get this result? Bruno Castello: Yeah. We are a new team in this championship, and we need to test to learn the circuits and to know what we should do to perform well in them. We were working hard with Honda since Nurburgring, they supplied us a new engine spec with more power, that helped us to challenge the championship contenders today. We are almost ready to be a strong rival for other teams, so we need to keep the good work. Q: Despite the pressure, that maiden win didn’t arrive yet. What do you think must be done to get that extra edge to win? BC: Work. We need to continue working hard to achieve our goal, we are in the right way, improving our performance in every race, so our first win is very close now. We were using a new steering wheel since Nurby, it still requires some development, because I had problems to keep the control of the car when I was going through the back straight, so I decided to slow down here and bring the car to home. When you can't win, finishing for points is very important. Q: Bruno, the next race will be Indianapolis. Do you think the team is prepared for a win there? BC: We have to wait and see. We are now very close, I think we can expect a win at Indy, but we need to keep working and improving to achieve our first win. The team is doing a fantastic job, we had a good race today, I'm having a lot of fun racing here, the other drivers are fantastic and I am proud to be a part of this championship.

Diogo, you forgot Schroeder's laps...
Q: 1:14.618 (5th place in qualifying) R: 13:01.422 (grid corrected).
He would've finished 5th I believe.
