Dave & Matt: Dunno what your problem is. Both your checksums were correct, and now they aren't. Did you guys modify anything in the game?
Nick: Which tex problem?

That's very wierd then. I'll try to investigate whether there is some setting that changes that checksum.

That's the init checksum that is wrong...can you check for a couple of things? Take a look in the files folder of the carset, and see if the exe is there. If it is, backup your regular gp4.exe from the main folder, and overwrite it with the one in the carset. See if the checksum works then.
Also, it's very important that you do not load any TSM profiles with our mod. I dunno what effect it has on the init checksum...besides, loading a TSM profile screws up the lap amount.

Only 3 entrants? How the heck does that work out?
Me, Bruno and Diogo, I presume? Very weird.
Or have you not been able to do a race, Diogo?

2006 Japanese GP
The 16th round of the season was marked by lots of retirements through the weekend, leaving the honors once more to Audi’s Diogo Vincenzi. After setting the practice sessions, well ahead of the competition, Vincenzi set the pole lap and went on to win the race and set the fastest lap for his first win at Suzuka.
The weekend was all about keeping the car on track though, as drivers struggled for grip during the qualifying session. Morning rain washed out all the rubber from the track, and as the teams were using light downforce, the show was on for the best spins. Early on the session, Dave Carr-Smith had a moment through the spoon curve and almost hit the barriers as he tried to bring the car back to the track. Holden's Matt Finlay also had a moment, but his ended more dramatically as he shocked violently against the barrier after spinning into turn 1.
The first to set a convincing time was Bruno Castello, but it didn't last much as Dean Kittleson from Holden beat his time easily. As the session progressed, it looked like it would be the pole time, until Diogo Vincenzi hit the track and pulled off a 1:28.668. As nobody was able to come up with a response, the pole was his for the 9th time this year.
Race start was fairly straight forward, as Vincenzi dashed into the lead while Kittleson, Castello, Finlay and Van der Voort battled it out into turn 1. The race ended pretty quickly for Finlay, for his demise, as he had contact with one of the Raltwest’s and had a broke suspension.
For the first few laps, Kittleson had his hands full with Van der Voort attacking him every lap, while Castello lagged behind with apparent grip problems. Vincenzi at this point, boasting a good lead ahead. On lap 4 Van der Voort was able to pass Kittleson going into the hairpin, but towards the end of the lap, smoke started to come out of his car and he ended up retiting.
Lap 5 marked the first pitstops for Kittleson and Vincenzi, which put Castello on the lead momentarily before his own pitstop on lap 6. Till the end, nothing happened apart from the retirement of Carr-Smith, who was driving a quiet race towards the back of the grid, but his car almost impossible to drive with suspension problems.
The last race of the season is scheduled for the 22nd of October in two weeks time.
Final qualifying: Diogo Vincenzi – 1:28.668 Dean Kittleson - 1:29.643 Bruno Castello - 1:30.288 Nick Van Der Voort - 1:33.052

Press Conference
Welcome gentleman to the Post Race Press Conference. Sitting with us is Audi’s Diogo Vincenzi for 1st place, Holden’s Dean Kittleson for 2nd place and Raltwest’s Bruno Castello for 3rd place. Diogo, it looked a bit tough this weekend out there, but you managed to work it out pretty well.
Diogo Vincenzi – Yes, the conditions were not very good after the rain on Saturday morning. Since we only do a few laps, the circuit was very dusty and lacked grip, but we managed to set the car up very well this time so we didn’t have any problems.
This is of course, your first win here.
DV – Yeah, it is and it's absolutely thrilling to win here. It's my favorite circuit in the season and I really wanted to win this one, specially after failing to do so last year. It’s also good to know that we are not relaxed after winning the championship, and I am looking forward to Brazil now.
It was also an impressive lap yesterday during qualifying. Tell us about it.
Yeah, again everyone was having problems due to the lack of grip, but the car felt good from the start. I was able to really attack the corners and the car behaved very well into 130R. Was kind of tricky to get the last chicane right, but I think it was ok. Still, it was possible to go faster.
Dean, a good result for you today. Tell us a bit about the race.
Dean Kittleson –
And, obviously, the fight with Nick there was quite entertaining. Were you surprised to see him retiring?
DK -
A good points finish, and now Holden looks good to snatch 3rd place from KDR, which will be your team for next year.
DK –
Bruno, another podium finish, and the win that seems to be hard to accomplish?
Bruno Castello –
You complained a lot of lack of grip during the weekend. Were you able to find the problem?
BC –
Raltwest is very solid on 2nd place now and so are you. Did you expect to do so well in your first season here?
BC -
Diogo, back to you again. As you’ve said before, Audi is leaving the series next year. How do you feel knowing that the next GP is your last one?
DV – Actually, that’s not 100% correct. After the announcement, Audi approached me and said that the decision was mine to do. They are leaving the option open for me until the end of the year. That only added to the confusion in my head (laughs), so I'm still thinking about it.
And your view on the next GP?
DV – Interlagos is a fantastic circuit to race on and I very much look forward to winning there. Last year, I almost won, but the penalty we suffered really hurt our chance, even though I was in the lead for a moment. I really can't wait for it.
Thank you gentleman. See you in Brazil!

Cool race report, Diogo. (Add the comments this time. Make it seem like a true press conference)
Dean, a good result for you today. Tell us a bit about the race.
Dean Kittleson – Wow. To be second in only my third race is fantastic, especially after the mechanical problems that prevented me from running in Spa-Francorchamps. I found it quite easy around Suzuka.
And, obviously, the fight with Nick there was quite entertaining. Were you surprised to see him retiring?
DK - Very much. It was pretty unusual to see the reliable Honda engine go up in smoke.
A good points finish, and now Holden looks good to snatch 3rd place from KDR, which will be your team for next year.
DK – Yes, 6 points are perfect to help the team elevate themselves ahead of KDR, although it is merely to help Holden at the moment. That is who I race for, after all.

Tom: I gave you a fix for your problem last page...sorry that you didn't see it in time What time did make? I was having trouble with the last chicane...I hit it right once at the beginning of the week and set a 1:28.645 with a race setup. But then, I couldn't get near it again, and even doing an extreme setup I couldn't quite reach it....best I could do was the 1:28.668 there...

Bruno, another podium finish, and the win that seems to be hard to accomplish?
Bruno Castello – Well, we just haven’t quite got enough to win a race now, but we are closer, developing the things step by step and we will get there, trust me!
You complained a lot of lack of grip during the weekend. Were you able to find the problem?
BC – To be honest, I still cant understand what happened with the car. Basically, the car was oversteering in slow corners, when I was going through the 130R or when I was braking before the last chicane. We tried different car set-ups but the problem wasnt solved so I had to do the whole race fighting with it. I like a bit of oversteering, but it was an excessive amount of oversteering for me. Its a pity, because I was having steering problems since Hockenheim and today it was working like a charm when I could keep the car on the racing line!
Raltwest is very solid on 2nd place now and so are you. Did you expect to do so well in your first season here?
BC - I have to admit, I never expected to be where I am now, and we were lucky to finish 3rd here today, thanks to the other drivers retirements, and with the second place in both ch'ships confirmed, we are going to Brazil to finish the season in style, hopefully winning the race...
