Ok, I've been thinking about it lately, and I think it would be interesting if we could have testing again for next year. But I'd like to make it in a way that everybody could benefit from it, and make it so it's not a problem.
So one of the ideas I had was basically, a certain nunber of laps submitted during the season break, would result in a +5 BHP increase for the team. The problem is that the number of laps has to be something that ensures nobody will have a huge gap to another team, but also allow teams to gain on it.
So for instance, maybe each 20 laps the team gets a 5 BHP increase? Providing each team starts with a 830 BHP engine for next season. So IE:
Team A does 160 laps. So the team starts with 870 BHP for next season.
Team B does 100 laps. So the team starts with 855 BHP for next season.
Team C does 132 laps. So the team starts with 863 BHP for next season.
And then, we could have the test sessions during season allowing each team to do a max of 40 laps to gain an extra 10 BHP. You may think that doing 100 laps is a lot, but it really isn't. I did before 160 for the Hungary GP, albeit crashing a lot. Imagine now that for 2 drivers to make and even, a third if you can find a test driver. A 910 BHP cap would be used though, so no one goes wild with testing
I think having a system like this would be interesting. Oh yeah, 1 driver teams could follow a slightly different rule:
Each 20 laps the team gets 5 BHP + 2.5 BHP bonus for having only 1 driver. So IE:
Team D does 60 laps. So the team starts with 856 BHP for next season.
I'm considering here that 1 driver won't be able to make as many laps as a 2 driver team. Of course, all those laps would be sent to me and saturday for verifying (no harsh verifying. It could be possible even to send only the 20th lap. So each 20 laps you save one and send to us. The log created by hofxlap shows which lap number that is).
What you guys think?
