Rumor Has It... ...McDonald's not to be sponsoring RaltWest for 2007 season? F1-live.com
The latest paddock rumors after the US GP confirms that RaltWest Racing F1 Team should have new colors for 2007 season. According to McDonald's CEO, Jim Skinner, "Only last week there were discussions with them in Montreal, and we are still in negotiations. RaltWest is doing an impressive first season and we are pleased to be supporting them here."
Moreover, other rumors points out that Lucky Strike, Sony and LG Electronics has already begun negotiations with RaltWest's team leader, Bruno Castello, to change the red scarlet colors of the team. The brazilian, who is currently second in drivers championship with 39 points and the main threat to Diogo Vincenzi (71) in this season, has refused to comment the rumors.
A spokesman for the RaltWest Racing F1 Team has also confirmed that they have signed with Honda a new deal, extending the current contract to 2008. "Petrobras has also renewed the contract and the tyre supplier for 2007 is unknown, because we are still waiting for the 2007 rules regarding the tyre specifications."
RaltWest's current contract with Bridgestone runs out after this season, although there is an option for another 2 years.

RaltWest to break Honda's Bonneville 400 recordF1-live.comAfter Honda Racing F1 Team achieved its target at the Bonneville International Speedway in Utah, USA, claiming the Formula One land speed record in style, RaltWest Racing F1 Team announced that they are planning to break the 400 kph barrier with a legal Grand Prix 4 car, to claim the fastest ever WSRC speed record. The team is aiming to set the fastest speed possible in a F1 circuit, instead of the Bonneville's salt surface. The place where they'll do it remains unknown, but Hockenheim is the most probably place, because the german circuit's long straights seems to be perfect for it, while Indianapolis and Barcelona are also good options. Bruno Castello, currently third overall in the WSRC drivers championship, is confirmed to drive the RW106B. The car is currently mounted with a Honda V10 powerplant, with 900 BHP, and the team is planning to remove all the aero downforce to reach the target. However, it is something that the team need to talk with the WSRC board. But according to the brazilian driver, "We are ready to try with the current configuration, if necessary, and looking forward to the 2007 regulations, we have a V12 engine ready to test, and we can use it too". The works for the RaltWest 400 Challenge is scheduled to take place right before or after the WSRC British GP. Source GMM CAPSIS International

Flavio Santos retires from 2006 WSRC Season F1-live.com
Paddock rumours after the british GP saying that Flavio Santos was going to leave RaltWest Racing F1 Team were really strong and were confirmed before the German GP. The brazilian, who was partnering the team leader Bruno Castello in the series, decided to take a break from racing to concentrate full efforts in things related to his personal life, such as work and university.
The shocking retirement was revealed when RaltWest Racing F1 Team brought only 1 car at Hockenheim. Following the loss of his teammate, Castello was unable to deliver a good performance at Germany and now he's looking for another teammate to replace his friend for the remainder of the season.
"Flavio is a great friend, and was very helpful for RaltWest by gaining some points, that will be very important to keep the team fighting for a good position in the Constructors Championship. When he said that he wanted to retire, at first I couldnt believe, but I understood that he had to sort out some things in his life, so I accepted his retirement. We are still great friends and maybe in the future we can be racing together again. Who knows?" said Castello.
Bruno conquered 48 points so far and Flavio leaves the 2006 WSRC season after winning 9 points for RaltWest Racing F1 Team. According to the table before the German GP, the team is currently second in constructors championship, with 57 points.

RaltWest News in brief F1-live.com
Following two poor races at Germany and Hungary, where Audi star Diogo Vincenzi has renewed both Driver and Constructors WSRC titles and the KDR's new signing Jorge Caranti has secured his first race wins, RaltWest Racing F1 Team has received from Honda an update in their engines for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix. Monza is a track that combines speed with skill, so both "Ralties" should be ready for a busy weekend, in another attempt to catch up the leaders.
Bruno Castello, who is currently second in drivers championship with 51 points and is still looking for his maiden grand prix win, has big hopes for Monza, despite of the lack of pace in the recent races. "With the new Honda engines we received for Monza, we should be able to rejoin the front runners. I still have some car handling problems, but the team is working hard to sort it out. So far we are having a fantastic first season, where we could gain more experience and develop our car, what should allow us to be more competitive in the next season." said the Brazilian.
Not only the engines are new at RaltWest. The team has also signed a new teammate for Bruno: Nick van der Voort, who made his debut at Hungary securing his first point. The Dutchman has also proved to be on the same pace as Bruno, what should help RaltWest Honda (61 pts) in the battle for the second spot in the Constructors Championship with KDR Porsche (66 pts).
And there is more news: Jim Skinner, McDonald's CEO, has told us that they signed a new one year sponsorship deal with RaltWest for 2007. A public announcement to confirm it is scheduled to be made in the RaltWest 400 Challenge, where the "Ralties" drivers will try to beat the 400 kph barrier at Monza, after the race event.

Honda to buy out RaltWest? F1-live.com
While the drivers are waiting for the Italian GP results, RaltWest Racing F1 Team and Honda Motor Company announced together, in a press conference, that the japanese engine manufacturer bought a 50% share in the team, leaving them as co-owner of the brazilian team along with Bruno Castello.
"The idea behind this is to build a junior team in RaltWest to develop new drivers and ideas for Honda Racing F1 Team in Formula One. RaltWest will have the same structure as our official F1 team and so far we are pleased with RaltWest's strong performance in their first season. We want to help our brazilian partners to reach their potential." said the Honda Motor Company president, Takeo Fukui.
It has been reported that RaltWest Racing F1 Team will move their headquarters to Suzuka, allowing them to work together with Honda in the 2007 car, which will be based in the same RA106 used by Jenson Button in his maiden grand prix victory.

Why is your name all over the place, do you have a massive pic of yourself and is your livery and your helmet on the front page, while I am only mentioned once in very tiny letters and my name has even been shortened?
