Press were called and turned up after the recent Hungary GP to see yet another new team enter the league.
As predicted when they came in the room has a table with 3 chairs on stage with a covered car in darkness nearby and lots of branding logos not seem to WRSC before ¡§Vod:Bul¡¨ was the branding.
After a few minutes the expected man to come on stage did so, Mr Mike Pitman owner of Vod:Bul, he sat down and started
¡§Welcome all and thanks for coming to the launch of my new outfit at wrsc now some of you may be familiar to my team but if you are not you will see a lot of us in last few races of 2006 and all of next year at 2007. I am happy to bring a team to this league that I have been looking at for a while now as a few of the existing members I know from other competitions. I am happy to say that Toyota and bridgestone along with otu title sponsor red bull ahve all come with us on this venture and continue our longstanding partnership
I would like to keep this quite short so that we can keep on our preparations for Monza GP
So our first shock of the day¡K the car, I hope you agree it is great looking car, you will either love it or hate it, it is the most advanced aero package we have had and I expect will go well.
As the lights and covers came off applause rang out though the room.
Ok now for the main announcement¡K the drivers.
I am very happy to have secured such an impressive driver line up; my number 2 driver is experienced in this league and has had some good and reliable results here, you will all know him its¡K¡K Dave Carr-Smith
Any questions for Dave?
Q: Dave a shock move from you, to change teams so near end of season to a new outfit. why did you do it?
Dave: Well Vodafone Audi announced they would be quiting the championship after Hungary anyway and Vod:Bul were looking for a driver who had some experience of the championship. So it seemed like a logical step.
Q: how well do you know the team? and what do you think to the team package
Dave: I actually know the team really well, they helped me through the early stages of my racing career. The package for this year isnt as strong as we would like it to be but I believe we are only running to get used to the format and improve the car so we can win races next season.
Q: so you dont expect to be up there this season yet?
Dave: There is always the chance that we will be but it's best not to get our hopes up after entering the championship at such a late stage of the season. We will just be learning about the car and working towards next season.
Q: what do you think of your team mate? how much do you know about him?
Dave: He's amazing, we have raced together before, albeit for different teams and he has literally blown the competition away. To be honest I don't know that much about him, but that too is something we can work on.
Q: there was rumours you were going to retire, was that ever a possiblity?
Dave: Only if there were no other options, so in that sense I am really glad that Vod:Bul came along and offered me the chance to drive for them. Otherwise I could well be sitting at home watching the championship on TV
Q: is it sad to leave audi? or you just looking to the future?
Dave: Obviously it is sad to leave the team that brought me into the championship but at the end of the day they were leaving anyway and why stick around there when I can help a new team find their feet
Q: thank you dave
Mike pitman took the microphone again, ¡§now to partner Dave in my second car I have a driver I have always wanted to drive for me, I am so happy to have him on board and I know he will do very well here, you may have already herd of him from some amazing drives elsewhere and its only time before he beats world records. ¡K. Laurent Keersmaekers!!!!!
Now a few questions for Laurent
Q: A shock decision to join vod:bul and so late in the season, what made u join?
Laurent: I was very interested in this new league. As I knew the Vod:bul team members very well, the decision to move to this team was quickly made!
Q: How well do you know the team? And what do you think to the team package
Laurent: I know the team since I drive in the F1VWC league. They were always present and showed to be a very professional team! Also about the team members I can¡¦t say a bad word. They are always nice to me and to each other, which is of course one of the key factors for success!
Q: How do you think you can do this season?
Laurent: I saw some very talented drivers are present. This means I¡¦ll have to fight to achieve good results.
Q: And next?
Laurent: For the next season nothing is decided yet. One thing is sure, if I drive in this league it will be with Vod:bul.
Q: What do you think of your team mate? How much do you know about him?
Laurent: I saw my team mate did some nice races, so it¡¦s up to me to achieve the same results! I think Dave is a very nice guy. He¡¦s always friendly to me, and I really appreciate that.
Q: Did you get any other offers? And would you ever consider moving teams?
Laurent: I didn¡¦t get any other offers yet. But even if I get another offer it won¡¦t change my mind, I just stay where I am. (If I don¡¦t get fired ƒº)
Q: Good luck this season.
Laurent: Thanks alot!!
Mike ¡§ thank you all once again for comign i hope this gives you somthing to talk about and we will see you all at Monza¡¨
