I believe that the penalty applied to my race was too harsh under the circumstances as I feel that the punishment does not befit the crime.
The crime was that I used an incorrect performance file for the Italian Grand Prix which was not of WSRC standard. If I may cite precedent, a similar situation happened earlier this year when Tom Matthews was also found guilty of using a non-WSRC standard performance file. The penalty applied on that occasion was that of a 12 second penalty added to his final time, dropping from first to fifth.
The offence was that my checksum data relating to the 'init' and 'cc checksum' values defined by the latest gp4.exe released, did not meet the official standard.
These are the values of the race I submitted: 137a4f4e, 00000000, 6015de08, f58fc312
These are the WSRC standard values: 94a0021c, 00000000, 6015de08, 19a05e2a
I have researched the matter and have reason to believe that the problem is related only to the performance file. This was due to a back-to-back test I conducted against the race I submitted and a subsequent test evaluation where I replaced the offending performance file with that of the WSRC standard. The result was that all checksums were seen to be correct with the new performance file, thus eliminating any doubt as to the nature of any other untoward happenings.
Here is the test I've completed which proves that the performance file was the only extenuating factor in my race.

You may compare this with the race I submitted:

Therefore, I tender an alternate punishment of 12 seconds to be applied to my final race time for the 2006 WSRC Italian Grand Prix. In light of the case against Matthews several months back, I believe that this is a fair and correct punishment.
