Folks, hopefully you got my e-mail, and are reading this. If not, well, I'll still try to contact some of your via other means. Anyway, it's been six years since our little 2 year racing adventure happened, and I'm sure we have some fond memories, even if we had issues and discussions. I recently started reading everything again, and although it was all great fun, it always bugged me that we never actually got to race each other in a proper multiplayer environment. So I decided to contact you in the hopes to get a little quick tour happening. Maybe something like 4 multplayer races, no commitments, no stakes. Just some fun. I thought mostly of using Formula 1 2011 for this. I know there are better sims out there, but the fact that setups in that game are fairly easy would mean a low commitment time for everyone. Still, I'm open to suggestions, except maybe for using iRacing...not interested in paying a subscription to that Well, that's it ;D

Yep, the e-mail works just fine. I'll be there if something like this were to happen, I still talk to Bruno so I'll make sure he sees this too Hard to believe it's been six years already

Ok, so two onboard at least. I talked to Bruno but he said he isn't sure he would be able to make it anytime soon.
Dave, do you think F1 2011 is a good choice? Or maybe stick with rFactor? I do think it has to be a game that has a F1 series that we can use. I've been a bit out of the racing department the last few years, so not sure if there's something much better.

I still only have Grand Prix 4 would you believe. So loyal to the big man Geoff Crammond.!! I could probably take place in a league at some stage, but not until May as i'm busy studying for exams until then. Would be great to hook up with everyone again

Wow, great to see some other faces here Obviously, if we were to do something, it would be at a time where everyone is not busy. I would love to have some real racing happening, but I wouldn't want to exclude people that don't have newer games. So, I wouldn't mind doing a couple of Gp4 races in the old WSRC style if need be I just want to try and get everyone back together to have some fun again. In fact, last night I fired up gp4 again after a long time...incredible how I still remember everything

I'm up for getting a new f1 game. Is there any new one that you would really recommend. I don't want it too arcady. Always loved the feel of the gp1 - 4 series. Real simulators, and even graphically gp4 is still rather pretty, and runs fast on my laptop which is a bonus!!

The only alternative is the F1 game you have from coddies. But i don't recommend it. Its way to arcade even with the patches and everything. That's also part of the reason i still stick to Gp4. Infact i released 12 Gp4 tracks during 2009-2011 along with 2 friends. We plan to release another 7 tracks this year witch part of them are already started. I also released many steering wheels for the game. gp4forever.com/forum.phpI'm the super moderator their, you can ask me anything about GP4. Cheers.

Well, as far as having fun on your own with a F1 game, none come close to Gp4. The AI is solid, the lap times are real, everything is consistent.
But rFactor has a better sim model, and so for a multiplayer environment it's really good. From what I gathered, F1 2011 for multiplayer ain't bad either. It's the single player experience that is somewhat lacking.

A reunion tour! Could be fun but time is tight for me. I may be able to finagle something but it would require me purchasing a game. Airsoft has become my big hobby these days.

Ten years later and I still prefer Grand Prix 4 over all modern games released after that. The hardware requirements are perfect since they do not demand newer high end and *expletive badword* expensive parts to build a new PC for gaming. As of now I am into retro gaming, playing old games like Grand Prix series games (GP1, GP2, GP3 and GP4).
I desperately need to do any race when time permits, but actually I am focused on my new job as a Magento front-end web developer, working 100% as remote for a company. Best job I have ever landed in ten years, it's just two weeks in but was a great achievement in these pandemic times. I'm all for a reunion tour or single race only... I just need to find a good time and we need to find the old guys again... I haven't seen Dave for years after Grand Prix Online races. I hope he's OK too.

Senna, Great to hear from you! Yeah, I am still playing GP4for same exact reasons. It's funny how most sims still have not simulated a dry line in wet weather conditions. GP4 still runs great. Also started playing SportsCar GT again. Not quite as good as GP4 but it still gives me a great racing experience.

The custom mods will keep GP4 alive for decades. Definitely something much better than Codemasters crap and rFactor 2. iRacing is too expensive for me and apparently Assetto Corsa Competizione is good, but I do not have the hardware for that.
Hence, why GP4 is all I have for now.
