Dear WSRC Teams,
This year has been a successful year by many standards. I want to commend all of you for your efforts to keep the series alive and well. It looks like we will have a stronger showing for next season and I'm very excited about that.
There have been a few issues this year which we intend to resolve in 2006. Some of the issues have been missunderstandings, between the WSRC staff and the teams. The weather forcast is one issue that comes to mind. We are looking into ways to improve upon our weather forcasting system.
Another issue is one that I personally have been a little lax on, since my intent was to get the series off the ground, I let it slide a little. Perhaps that allowed some to take advantage of this issue. But next season we need to make sure that every single team is running by the same rules. Without naming names, I can list three drivers that were not using at least two of the three mandatory files that were set forth in the rules. Those three files being the following:
The Official 2005 WSRC Cars.wad
The Official 2005 WSRC Performance File
The New Realistic Physics file
This is evident in there hotlap files that they have submitted in each and every race of the season. But laying blame and penalizing drivers, this late into the season, would seem to me, to have disasterous consequences to the series. That is the last thing I want to have happen. So for 2006 we are working on a CMS Carset that everyone will be required to run as this will standardize both the track and car data that we want everyone to be using.
The good thing about using a carset created with CSM (CarSet Manager) is that it allows you to keep your existing install of GP4 untouched, as it only tempararily installs the files required to use this carset and then unloads them to restore your GP4 settings, when you are done with it.
Viper has been working on this carset for the past month or so and will continue to do so until all of the pieces are put together. That includes all of the Team liveries for the 2006 cars. Please feel free to submit your car liveries and helmets to Viper when you have them completed.
