sorry to be annoying but could you just run through the qualifying process, the rules seem a little confusing, we have to do ten laps?

Race is ten laps, qualy is one lap in free practice, you just hit escape > save > hotlap and pick your fastest I'm not liking the physics, are they the same as last year? They seem a lot twitchier, I'm having to put tons of grip down to keep the thing on the road...

Whoa...hang on a sec, hehe. Race is not 10 laps anymore. Here it is again and quite simple:
Qualifying: Do your best shot on making 1 hotlap in free practice mode. Save the hotlap and submit it.
Race: Set quickrace distance to 15% in CSM and make a quickrace with 1 pitstop. The pitstop is mandatory. Failing to do it means a DNF. Just after you finish the race, press escape as the words "Race Over" appear on the screen and save the game. Not the hotlaps, but the actual game. Submit that file aswell.
So in all, you should submit two files. One is your qualifying lap and the other one a savegame of your quickrace run with 1 pitstop.
Zep: Physics is the same from last year with the addition of track dat files from same author...

Completely my mistake now that you mention it. I guess I ended up forgetting about it. I'm updating the carset with it as we speak, since I already submited my laps

I've download everything and put the things to work... For the qualifying lap, i can only go through 1m27's.. no problems with that, i never liked Melbourne thou... But i decided to test the quickrace feature race and guess what... After 5 laps, when i try to enter the pits, my car hits in something invisible and that thing throw me back into the track... in other words, GP4 does not want to let me enter the pits to do the mandatory pitstop Ahhh, one more thing... why is my team using Red Bull helmets? I found myself using David Coulthard's helmet

Only way I can see why Gp4 would do that is if you are running a modfied version of the melbourne wad. The dat files I supply in the carset are made for the original wad that comes with the game. It also works with unmodfied lampert tracks too.

Works fine on my carset, although I think your textures are not flipped correctly cause they are all messed up... On a closer look, I didn't know your helmet was green ;D I'm looking into it *edit* found the problem. Will be corrected with the next update.

It also works with unmodfied lampert tracks too. If your CSM file supplies the tracks .dat why after reinstalling the csm files i'm still having that problem (blocked at pit entrance) ? BTW i managed 1m26' and i'll be satisfied with that, the car physics are so twitcher that trying to go below 1m26' for me is impossible even if i try to be more aggresive... I think i did more than 100 laps and I doubt my teammate can close it with autobrake but lets him learn how to do it later.

Ok, is your melbourne2001.wad the original one from the game? If you are using a 2005 version, it's very possible that you are running into a wall that was present in the 2001 version but not in the 2005 version. If that's not the case, then I'm at loss to what's hapening (As usual). My carset is extremely basic compared to others like the gp2 mod or the 2005 mod by Tony. There's very little stuff that can wrong here, so I can only assume right now that the problem lies within your game files and not the carset.
Also, stupid question: You are getting the signal to pit right? The bracket thingy on the cockpit?
