Well, I'm a bit surprised really. I had no idea I'd be so competitive here...everyone was just churning out amazing laps for qualifying and I thought I'd be at least a second behind. Of course, the penalty on Matthews helped me, but I would have been happy with 2nd place too... BTW, concerning your penalty Zep, there must be something wrong with your install/carset mate. You should have read a BHP amount of 852 I think. Make sure your gp4.exe is only decrypted without any other mods for instance and make sure the carset is installed properly I'm very impressed with my performance too... thought that i would finish in 3rd and almost 5 damn seconds separated me from my first race win i wonder what would happen if i've been more consistent in that race... I did improved in this area (consistency), so i hope that we can expect great battles for the second part of the season And have to say that the time i've spent working on my car-setup has helped alot in my latest race performance ;D Now I understand that i shouldnt underestimate the secrets of car setup

Zep: I'm really sorry, but rules are rules. And I'm sure you can find a way to fix it. It must be some wrong file in your install. Try for instance downloading the decrypted exe again and re-patching it to gp4 Tweaker and see if it displays the correct BHP.

.....so can i use any version of the track as long as i dont change the dat file? well, viper has told me that I should use original game .dat files... so i reinstalled the whole thing to get them... I dunno about the ricardo's tracks... i've used one of them and my team laps weren't validated... so thats why i preferred to get the original dats...

are there any rules regarding the wad files?

The wads can be any you want as long as they don't have any changes to the track layout. And when I mean you can't change the dat files, I mean the dat files inside the carset. The circuit folder on your gp4 installation doesn't matter...Although, having the original there is best. BTW, let's try to keep any further carset discussions in the carset thread

And what was with the penalty. It thought that we could submit our files before the final deadline without penalty, meh only a game. And bad luck Zep looked like u had that one stitched up. Viper excelent job coming fromthe back to win, pity u didnt drag me along with you

Diogo Welcome gentlemen to the unilaterals. In third place we have Matt Finlay for Smirnoff Holden, second place; Bruno Castello for McDonalds Raltwest...and taking his third win of the season - Pioneer Audi's Diogo Vincenzi. Diogo, a lucky win considering Tom appeared to have the measure of you all week, but it didnt look so good after qualifying. Tell us what happened there?Diogo Then at the start, a cracking lap it has to be said, passing all those cars before the end of the first lap, amazing!Diogo After you came in for your tyre stop, it seemed as if Matthews was just too far ahead for you to catch him, but then he had his problem. What did the team tell you once it was realised he had a big issue? Congratulations again. Bruno Bruno, a fantastic result here for you at Spain. You, along with the other teams did a vast amount of testing in the lead-up to this race. Did that help you be more competitive here today?Bruno You made a great start, you even led briefly, but there was always pressure and your car just appeared to snap away from you slightly at the last corner on the first lap, which allowed Diogo through. Was there already an issue with the car at that stage?Bruno You were the first car to pit, what was the reasoning behind that? well doneMatt Matt, a troubled weekend for Holden but you came away with a good result here todayMatt Then your battle with Castello and Dave Carr-Smith through-out the race. It provided us with some entertainment!Matt Just before you pitted, we could see on the TV, your team struggling with the refuelling hose. Was there a problem there? thankyou MattDiogo Diogo, back to you. Monaco is the next race on the calender, and its a vastly different circuit to Barcelona. How will you prepare for this event?Diogo Do you feel the championship is beginning to come to you now? You have a 15 point lead in the standings. Can we expect you to consolidate your position at the top by beginning to take it easy and not take any undue risks? Thankyou gentlemen, and now, a word in your own languages...

Thank You. We've done an extensive testing programme at this track last week and worked hard at some areas which are catching us out. We have certainly made a lot of progress since Imola, particularly in the car-setup issues and my race consistency. And yes, it helped me alot, the second place was a great prize for all this effort, and a great lesson for me - never underestimate the tenths of a second that you can win with your car-setup.
Yeah, I had to make a car-setup looking for more stability, because I have an aggresive driving style. It worked like a charm for every single corner of this track except in that last corner. I was forced to slow down before this corner to avoid problems, but I was losing some tenths of a second there, so I had to push more and it happened. Apart from that, the car was OK. I think that we missed out on the chance of a win today, because the car was quicker and stable but I wasn't consistent enough.
Well, I just thought that with a light fuel load I could have a chance to build a lead gap before the pit call, but for this strategy to work, I needed to be consistent like Vincenzi was throughout the race, and I wasn't. But what we have done here was enough for the second place and we are happy with that result.
